Entertainment for the Masses!

In my house, technology rules. TV, movies, Internet, games, and music – we have it, and we try to have the best. Don’t get me wrong, we don’t spend hours glued to the TV, but we do enjoy our movies, sit-coms, culinary shows, and HGTV. I can’t live without House Hunters and Property Brothers.

My husband and son are all about their PlayStation 3’s. They play together, so they get father-son time, and they play separately. I read while they do that. Or I watch a TV show on my Kindle or laptop. My external hard drive is where all our movies are stored, and it’s a plug and play so I just have to plug the USB into my laptop and I’m good to go.

Music is the other determining factor in our lives. Between the three of us, we listen to everything! Country, rock, dubstep, hard rock, dance…I could go on and on. For this, we have a really good shelf system with an MP3 dock, so any one of us can just pop in our players and listen to what we want.

Of course, when we watch movies on the TV, we have a great Blu-Ray player, along with a surround sound system. I scoffed at the surround sound (much like I did digital cameras and Blu-Ray players), but it just sounds odd now when I watch TV without it. Plus, when you watch scary movies like I do, surround sound picks up on all those ambient sounds that you wouldn’t hear normally. Which, come to think about it, is a blessing/curse kind of thing…

More Mason Jars for the Fans!

It’s Monday, and as everyone knows, no one likes a Monday. Personally, I think Monday’s get a bad rep most of the time (unless you get a Murphy’s Law Monday), but ever since Filbert Mumphries’ cow fell off a cliff and crushed a log cabin that a family of settlers had just moved into, Monday’s have been labelled the bad boy of the work week. I totally just made that up…

Anyway, mason jars make people happy. No one knows why, or how they became the “it” container of the 21st century, considering how old-timey they are and can’t text or look up recipes on the internet, but people just love them and get so excited about them! It doesn’t hurt that we sell mason jar drink glasses either, so after you get inspiration from this blog, you can visit the site and buy a few to get cracking on these scrumdidlyuptious creations. Enjoy!

Desktop Art

I think today’s blog is pretty self-explanatory. I love finding new desk accessories because I would rather accessorize my desk than myself! I know we have a lot of modern fans out there, so I figured today I would stick to modern desk accessories, and didn’t fail to come through!

They had some great stuff, but some of it would be hard to identify if there wasn’t a description. That’s the challenge today. If you can figure out what everything is, like the post and email me at  with your answers (subject line Office Supply Guessing Game), and you’ll win…my ever-lasting respect and admiration. And I’ll offer up congratulations on the blog:)

The Products That Help Heal

Close to a year ago (or maybe over a year ago now), we brought on a new line – medical supplies. We started with the basics, but now we’ve grown the line so much, that a doctor’s office can almost fully stock itself just with our medical supply line!

We do have bandages and ice packs and everything else that a homeowner would need, but for doctor’s offices, we can offer additional items like triage and diagnostic tools, specialty bandages and dressings, ostomy supplies, and even filing cabinets and labels!

The last time I was at the doctor’s office, I took a look around the room and was able to recognize about 90% of the items in the office were items we carry on our site, and that was just in the exam room! The main reception area had 100% of products we carry, including furniture and art on the walls.

Hospitals can benefit as well, considering we carry IV supplies, ambulatory aids, hospital beds, anesthesia supplies…it goes on from there! I can spend the entire blog cataloging that we carry in our medical supply line. Have a look, see if it’s something you need, then give us a call and we’ll take care of you!

Don’t Run Out!

We admit it. We have run out of paper towels for our dispensers here at ReStockIt, and have had to resort to flimsy napkins for drying our hands as we eagerly await our new shipment. We try to stay on top of ordering supplies, but sometimes we just…forget! It happens to everyone, every business, at one point or another, and it’s never at a convenient time. That’s why there is ReStocker to the rescue!

You can’t go wrong using ReStocker for your business, or even your home! There is no drawback to having your supplies automatically delivered in the time frame that you choose. And there are tons of products that are on our ReStocker program, so you can restock everything you need for your business or home, and never have to worry about running out of a crucial supply ever again!

In addition, with ReStocker, you save 5% on every ReStocker order that you place, so the program also equals savings as well as peace of mind since you aren’t going to be surprised when something important runs out. Think about it, no more last minute trips to the store for supplies, so it saves you time as well! You can’t beat something that saves you time, money, and peace of mind.

You can customize ReStocker to replenish your supplies in the time frame of your choosing, and with many of our ReStocker products offering free shipping and super-fast delivery, there really isn’t a way to lose! Breakroom supplies, office supplies, even janitorial supplies can be set up for auto delivery with ReStocker, so you never have to run out again. Its good advice that we’ll be taking for ourselves!

The Artist Within

I’ve always admired people who can draw, because I can barely draw a straight line. Well, that’s not entirely true. I spent an entire summer when I was twelve learning how to draw a horse head. See terrible example below. As you can see, I have reason to admire people who can do what I so obviously cannot.

My son can draw, as can his father and grandfather. Their family is very artistic, and use most mediums – pencils, watercolor, pastels, paint…you name it, they can make beauty from it.  I’m actually kind of jealous. I was cleaning my son’s room this weekend, and came across an art kit that his grandfather got him for Christmas last year, and it got me thinking about all the pretty pictures that I could find on the internet.

So this morning, being the thoughtful person I am and knowing how much everyone who reads this blog likes artwork, I decided to bring you some beautiful pencil art that I came across on the web. After I subject you to my horse head. Enjoy!

To Tablet or Not to Tablet…

Just like the digital camera and Blu-Ray revolution, I fought the advent of e-readers and tablets. Why? Well, we have laptops and netbooks and smartphones, so why do we need another electronic device to keep track of? If you want small, you get a netbook. If you want even smaller, you get a Samsung Note II or Galaxy 3, with the added benefit of talking and texting to people. Why get a tablet?

Never mind the fact that I am a bibliophile. I always joke that if I built a house, it would consist of a huge kitchen and a bigger library! I’m a published author, and books have been my life since I was ten years old. Why would I give them up for something digital? Famous last words…

My husband got me a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas, and my reading life has not been the same since! Surprisingly enough, I use it a lot more than I ever thought I would, and that’s just reading. I take it with me everywhere I go, which means I am never without something to read.

And it’s like my phone; I love to dress it up and get accessories for it! Chargers, cases, skins…it doesn’t matter. I know that the iPad has more accessories, but I just love my Kindle. I can play games, watch movies through Netflix and HuluPlus, email, Facebook…everything that I need to do to stay connected! I’ve been brought over to the dark side…

Pencil Art to Extreme

I’ve talked many times in the blog about art made from office supplies, and pencils aren’t a topic I’ve touched on before. This is odd, considering I’ve been watching Dalton Ghetti’s work for a while now. He.Is.AMAZING. He actually makes it look so easy, and I want to try it myself, but I know I’d end up cutting off the tip of a finger or something.

He takes pencils and sculpts the most detailed miniatures from them, and I just don’t get how he does it! First off, he has to keep that X-acto knife of his crazy-sharp, and the patience it has to take is epic. The finished product is astounding, and so perfect that you just can’t believe it came about from something so tiny as a pencil lead! I can go on and on, and spout numerous adjectives to describe his work, but I think I’ll let it speak for itself. Enjoy!

Special Thanks to Dalton Ghetti and Sloan Howard Photography!

Mom’s Take-Out

The big holidays are over, but other small ones are fast approaching, and this begs the question: How are you going to send home leftovers from that party and get your storage containers back? I hate sending leftovers home for just that reason, because those little containers are pricey!

Well, that’s an easy fix! Last year, I bought take-out containers. That way, I send home food so it doesn’t stay in my house and get tossed, and I don’t worry about having to go out and buy a whole new slew of plastic storage containers! And I really hate having to do that…

The beauty is, you can get whatever you want, for whatever budget you have. You can get foam food containers, in a one compartment, two compartments, or three compartments. You can get plastic deli containers or aluminum containers. Heck, you can even get foam trays and just use plastic wrap to seal it up.

Personally, I like to use the little Chinese restaurant containers for a funky touch, or you can get the paper food trays like they use at fairs and festivals. With Valentine’s Day and St Patrick’s Day coming up (my husband and his family are Irish, so we have huge St Paddy’s Day parties), I have to dig my containers out of storage for the occasion. That’s another plus! They last forever, unless of course you throw massive parties with 300+ people! Party on, and send home leftovers without fear!

Manly-Type Valentine’s Gifts

Every year for Valentines Day, I panic because I have no idea what to get my husband. I don’t want to get run-of-the-mill things, and he just doesn’t appreciate flowers and chocolates (what is WRONG with him??), so I’m usually stumped and starting to panic around this time of the month.

So this year, when I went window shopping online, I thought, “Hey! Maybe there are others like me that need help too!”. I don’t know why it was such an epiphany for me, but there it is. Here are some of my selections that I need to narrow down for this year, and hopefully they’ll help you too! Thanks to for some great ideas!

For the Entertainer: Beer Mugs. If your guy has poker/game/dart/book club (I just wanted to throw you off with that one) gatherings at the house, then he *may* want to serve beverages in nice beer steins instead of the mismatched glasses that every ex-bachelor has laying around.

For the Techie: Bluetooth Headset. This is something my husband has been begging for. Not that he doesn’t have one, he has two actually, but he wants a new and shiny one. This is the model he’s been eyeballing ever since we saw a guy with it while we were Christmas shopping at the mall. Since then, I have been inundated with reasons why this one is better than the other two…

For the Geek:  They’re Star Wars cuff links. I think they speak for themselves.

For the Adventurer: Handheld GPS. Is your guy a hiker or backpacker? Does he like to explore new places? Does he get lost in a closet with one door? This may just be the perfect gift for him! It’s small and non-intrusive, so he can just pretend he knows exactly where he’s going without letting on he has electronic help.

For the Thinker: The Story of Him. Some men love to talk about themselves and offer up their opinion. No, really, it’s true! If you have a talker in your life, this may just be perfect. He can record all about himself in this nifty little book, and leave it in his will so that future generations will know his greatness.

For the Romantic: Family Story Wall Art.Yes, there are some men who are romantic, and something like this would definitely get his heart thumping with love for you. It can have a place of honor right over his desk at work, so that he can proclaim to all and sundry his undying love for you and your family.
